Geography
Karuvatta Grama Panchayat is a local body in Haripad block of Karthikappally taluk in Alappuzha district of Kerala. The confluence of the Pampa-Achankovil River and the Arabian Sea is through the man-made Karuvatta Leading Channel, which is surrounded by paddy fields and streams. The famous Karuvatta Vallamkali also takes place in this channel. This is the only place in Kerala where the starting and finishing points and the Vallamkali can be seen from both sides. Karuvatta Chudan is also a cultural symbol of this land.
