Key Responsibilities of the Finance Standing Committee
Under the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, the Finance Standing Committee manages and oversees the financial affairs of the Panchayat.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of the Panchayat budget.
Review and make recommendations regarding the annual budget and the revised budget.
Suggest measures to enhance revenue.
Ensure the efficient collection of taxes, fees, and cesses.
Examine the Panchayat's accounts of receipts and expenditure.
Oversee financial transactions.
Review audit reports and audit observations, and initiate follow-up actions.
Provide recommendations. Ensure that the utilization of Panchayat funds is lawful and efficient. Examine matters related to the financial management of the Panchayat's properties and assets. Provide recommendations for financial control and cost reduction. Provide recommendations for mobilizing financial resources required for development projects. Carry out other financial matters assigned by the Panchayat Committee.
