Key Responsibilities of the Development Standing Committee
1. Core Responsibilities
- Planning and Development: Spearhead the preparation of annual and five-year plans for the socio-economic development of the Panchayat.
- Production Sectors: Oversee and foster development in agriculture, soil conservation, animal husbandry, dairy development, small-scale industries, and fisheries.
- Land Use: Regulate land use within the Panchayat area and formulate schemes to make fallow land cultivable.
- Cooperation: Coordinate activities related to the cooperative sector.
2. Maintenance and Regulation
- Construction and maintenance of markets, public toilets, and slaughterhouses under the Panchayat.
- Supervision of Panchayat-owned farms and seed production centers.
- Collection and maintenance of statistics related to agriculture and allied sectors.
3. Other Key Powers
Determine the order of priority for projects related to the subjects under the committee's purview.
Assess the progress of project implementation in these areas and submit necessary recommendations to the Panchayat committee.
Prepare the income and expenditure estimates related to development activities for inclusion in the annual budget.
