Key Responsibilities of the Welfare Standing Committee
The Welfare Standing Committee oversees various activities aimed at ensuring social welfare and the development of backward sections within the Panchayat.
Key Responsibilities:
Spearhead activities related to the welfare and development of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other backward classes.
Formulate schemes for the welfare of women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, and oversee their implementation.
Evaluate the implementation of social security pension schemes and the delivery of services to beneficiaries.
Coordinate and supervise activities related to poverty alleviation programs.
Promote programs aimed at women's empowerment and gender equality.
Assess the functioning of child welfare, child protection, and nutrition programs.
Support schemes related to the rehabilitation and welfare of persons with disabilities.
Propose measures to ensure social justice and equality.
Review matters concerning the selection of beneficiaries and the implementation of welfare schemes.
Oversee institutions and activities related to social welfare.
Perform other welfare-related duties assigned by the Panchayat committee.
